History of Miles Almandoz & Co. Ltd

The story of Miles Almandoz & Co. Ltd began nearly sixty years ago, when the founders, Mr and Mrs Ronald Louis Almandoz, lived in Port of Spain, Trinidad, decided to move to Tobago to start a business.

It was in 1955 when the business originally began, as a lime factory on Milford Road in Scarborough extracting lime oil for export to Dominica for Rose’s Lime Juice. An Ice factory followed later and over the years, the company grew to acquire various agencies including Volkswagen and Morris cars, Lucas batteries, Firestone tyres, then Lever Brothers and West Indian Tobacco Ltd, Buchanans Whisky and Mt Gay Rum.

In the 1980’s, the company, the company was being managed by one of their sons, Miles Almandoz, and he steered the business towards the sale of Liquor, Beer, Soft drinks and Dry goods, adding various local and imported products as the company continued to grow.

Then in 2002, the name was changed to Miles Almandoz & Co. Ltd and is now a third generation family business which is the largest supplier of Fine wines, Spirits, Carib Brewery products and Alcoholic and Non Alcoholic beverages in Tobago.
